The Ultimate Q and A for Boudoir/Intimate Photography

Updated: Aug 30

Hello loves! Here we will address some of the most common questions we have come across. If for whatever reason your question is not answered here, PLEASE reach out! Keep in mind this Q and A is based around our specific business model, and may not apply to other photographers.

Q I’m nervous about the idea of a boudoir session, but I’m curious. What can I do?

A: Well my love the great thing about our process is we have consultations prior to every boudoir shoot. We will sit down over coffee/tea and just chat to see if we are a good fit for you. If you come to a consultation and decide we are not the studio for you, no stress! We leave it at a lovely coffee date.

Q:I don't know how to pose, is that ok?

A: No problem at all! We have been studying human form and boudoir for a long time and know that everybody type has posing guidelines. We will pose you head to toe in poses that flatter your figure and, specifically, what YOU want to show off.

Q: I have never found lingerie I like because I’m (big/small/not curvy enough/ too curvy) so what now?

A: We are very experienced with matching our clients body types with lingerie that will show off their best features. During your consultation we will chat about outfits and options for you as well as give additional options for personal shopping assistance. Believe me, there is lingerie out there for you. Click here to check out our lingerie guide.

A: Can I send references of what I like?

Absolutely! We would love to see your ideas.

Q: do you have props or additional services?

We have access to so many amazing props and add on services for your session. We can source you a beautiful customized floral arrangement, charcuterie board, body cage/BDSM props as well as Shibari professionals. If you would like props just to let us know and we can find what you are looking for, or feel free to bring your own.

Q:Who will be at my session?

A:Myself, (photographer) and hair/makeup team

Q: Can I bring a guest to my session?

A: The answer will always be "absolutely if that makes you more comfortable" BUT I do not recommend it. Anyone else in the room will likely become a distraction and throw off the client/photographer vibe. The experience is all about YOU we want to make sure it stays that way.

Q:Where do you shoot?

A: We have a list of on-site locations that we rent for our boudoir sessions. The site that is chosen will depend on your style and available space.

Q: How long are the sessions?

A: You can expect 4 hours in total for your session. 1.5 hours for hair and makeup and the rest is dedicated to capturing your photos as well as worked in time for breaks.

Q: How many edited photos will I get?

A: This will depend on how many photos you decide to purchase. We offer different gallery sizes as well as different product options to fit clients needs.

Q: What happens to my images after?

A: The photos that you choose for purchase will be fully edited and stored for 90 days on our system at that point they will be archived and eventually deleted. The photos you do not choose to have move into final process will be archived for 30 days and then deleted.

Q: Can I do this pose I found on Pinterest?

A: The short answer is, maybe. Here is the thing with Pinterest...it is great for inspiration but leave the posing to us. We will absolutely take what you find into consideration and do our best to get you something similar but there are so many different body types out there that there really is no "one size fits all" for posing. Don't worry! We got you. As professional Boudoir photographers we spend countless hours studying body form and the anatomy of posing to ensure you look your best.

Q: Will my pictures be made public?

A: The client always has the say so if their images can be shared or not. We do not share any images without a signed model release.

Q: Does your business work with the LGBTQ community?

A: ABSOLUTELY, come as you are.

Q: Why does boudoir cost so much?

A: I know some people may be asking themselves this question when they come across the sticker price of a Boudoir session. It goes from "I just want a couple of cute sexy pics" to "holy shit that's an investment!" really quick...and the answer is, yes, it IS an investment. It is an investment in yourself. Boudoir photography, unlike other styles (excluding wedding) is very time intensive to get right and also requires a larger team. From the very first contact with you we spend a substantial amount of time getting to know you as a person, your interests in a boudoir session and what your worries may be. For your session we source a qualified makeup artist, qualified hair stylist and location to fit your style, all coming with their own costs. We spend time helping you source lingerie, working through fears, and pumping you up to get ready for an amazing experience! Don't get me wrong, we absolutely LOVE what we do but it does take time to be done right, and there is no way we are doing it any other way but right! We hire professional retouchers as well to ensure your photos are responsibly and well taken care of from the time they leave our cameras to the time you have your prints in your hands.

So the short answer is that a full boudoir session is not "just sexy pictures" it is a full-blown experience that you will absolutely remember for a lifetime!

Why is the session fee non-refundable even if I cancel?

When we book your session we are booking your hair, makeup and location. The session fee is non-refundable regardless of cancellation as our vendors get paid first.

Q: Can I have just a couple of extra photos? What if you just don't edit them?

A: We will ABSOLUTELY give you whatever it is that you are looking for within our power, it however will not be free. As it may appear easy just to drag and drop a couple of images into your gallery, there is upwards of an hr per image for final processing before it can go into an online gallery or album. As far as unedited images go, we do not release unedited (RAW) images just as a chef would not simply give you the ingredients to a meal rather than finish cooking it for you. You expect a standard of quality, and we want to ensure when product goes out it not only meets your expectations but also represents our teams talent.

I really hope this was helpful for anyone that may have had these questions! When I tell you for most of us Professional Boudoir and Intimate photographers we absolutely love what we do, I tell you that with my whole heart. If you aren't sure, set up a consultation and come chat with us (or your perspective Boudoir photographer). You will see quickly we are all in to ensure you have an amazing (dare I say life changing?) experience.
